Physicians and other Licensed Professionals

A significant portion of Clouse Brown’s practice is dedicated to representing physicians, medical practice groups, dentists, veterinarians, lawyers, law firms, and other licensed professionals.

Clouse Brown regularly negotiates and drafts agreements for doctors, dentists, and veterinarians entering a partnership or practice. We also advise these professionals on their rights and obligations upon their departure.

Physicians’ agreements raise many special issues, including those related to licensure and hospital privileges that may be beyond the direct control of the parties. Knowing what to look for in such agreements is essential. Physicians’ agreements often include non-competition and non-solicitation provisions. If those provisions are overbroad, they can restrict doctors from practicing in their communities or in hospitals where they are attending physicians or on staff, or even prevent them from treating other patients who rely on their services. Some states have statutory provisions regarding physician non-compete agreements that require special scrutiny.

Our practice also includes assisting professionals and their practices with employee disputes, harassment claims, employment contract litigation and other employment law matters. For many of our practice group clients, we serve as an outside human resources team to assist with a variety of compliance issues and employment-related questions.
