Clouse Brown continues to grow its employment practice with the addition of trial attorney Rachel Z. Ullrich. Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Ms. Ullrich works with employers and executives to provide practical, business-forward legal solutions to employment issues.
“Rachel’s work is perfectly centered at the cross-streets of employment and business, and litigation and counseling, the exact niche we’ve carved out for our firm,” said Clouse Brown partner Alyson Brown. “We’re glad to have her on board, and I’m sure our clients are, too.”
Ms. Ullrich routinely handles issues related to employee hiring, firing, and discipline; leave and accommodation requests; wage and hour compliance; and complaints involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in the workplace. She also advises on employment policies and procedures, and provides essential training to employees and managers on topics such as interviewing, sexual harassment, discrimination and disability accommodations.
An experienced trial attorney, Ms. Ullrich handles workplace discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases from beginning to end, from charges of discrimination at the administrative stage to litigation and arbitrations in state, federal, and appeals courts. She regularly handles workplace investigations and has been called upon by employers to represent individual executives when separate counsel is needed.
Ms. Ullrich’s areas of expertise also extend to restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements. She has considerable experience seeking and defending temporary restraining orders and temporary injunctions involving claims for misappropriation of trade secrets, as well as breaches of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
She serves clients in a diverse array of industries including oil and gas, automobile dealerships, assisted living, printing, insurance, manufacturing, aviation, technology, and non-profit. A hospitality major in college, Ms. Ullrich also has a particular understanding of issues affecting the hotel, retail, and restaurant sector.
In recognition of her achievements The Best Lawyers in America has named her a top attorney in labor and employment litigation since 2024, and she has been previously selected to the Texas Super Lawyers list for the same category. In 2020, Ms. Ullrich was recognized as a Women Worth Watching award recipient by Profiles in Diversity Journal.
Ms. Ullrich is admitted to practice in Texas state courts, as well as the U.S. Fifth and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas. A two-time graduate of the University of Houston, she earned her J.D. in 1997 and her B.S., magna cum laude, in 1994.
When she’s not handling client matters, Ms. Ullrich enjoys cooking, traveling, crocheting, and playing mahjong with friends. She and her husband share their home with two rescue dogs, Gracie and Olive.
