Congratulations to our own Camille Avant, who has earned her Certification in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization – a designation that fewer than 700 attorneys in Texas can claim.
“The labor and employment exam is incredibly rigorous and demanding,” said Clouse Brown name partner Keith Clouse. “Camille has put in the work, and her certification is undeniable proof to our clients that she is an expert in the field.”
In order to meet the standards for qualification, an attorney must have practiced law in Texas for at least five years, with at least three years of labor and employment law experience. Each of those three years must have included a minimum of 25 percent of substantial involvement in labor and employment law matters.
In addition to relevant experience, candidates seeking certification need to provide references from other attorneys and judges, participate in 60 hours of approved labor and employment CLE courses, and sit for a six-hour exam. Following initial certification, re-certification is required every five years.
Ms. Avant’s practice includes defending clients before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Texas Workforce Commission. She also represents and counsels employers and employees in all aspects of employment law, including discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of employment contracts, trade secrets, covenants not to compete, and wage and hour cases.
“Camille has worked with us since she was in law school,” noted Clouse Brown partner Alyson Brown. “She is a valuable member of our team, who provides excellent service to our clients, and she’s a key player on our trial team, as well.”
She joins Clouse Brown founders Keith Clouse and Alyson Brown in holding the certification. The ceremony and reception honoring the 2019 inductees will be held March 26 in Austin.
